How Cotemar achieved a 40% automated testing environment
Cotemar is a mexican oil enterprise that has a national and international presence, with more than 40 years in the market.
Manual testing could not keep up
Cotemar had a goal to reduce its Time-To-Market. Therefore, the client aimed to improve the software quality processes they had.
Cotemar had manual tests, however, testers were not able to test enough before making a deployment, modification, or software implementation. Manual tests are much slower, and you can carry out a minimum number of tests in a long time frame.
Getecsa’s solution
Therefore, in March 2023, Getecsa started the process of implementing automated tests with the Tricentis Tosca tool.
With automated tests, the number of tests that can be carried out during a determined time frame is much larger than that of manual tests.
Additionally, with Tosca, you can test three to four times more tests than the ones that were being carried out before.
Our process
We proposed a work plan that lasted approximately 3 months, from the implementation of the necessary software to the case test generation for automation.
Also, we implemented the Tricentis Tosca tool, and because Cotemar worked with SAP, both platforms integrated without problems.

Once we have a list of the test cases or steps that are executed, those test cases are automated with Tosca.
Because of the tool’s intuitiveness, when test cases are automated, there are meetings with the client to get their approval of the process that is being executed.
Additionally, the manual testing personnel of the organizations received training and consultancies from the Getecsa team, to achieve results as the cycles are ongoing and so that they can use the tool for future automations.
Automation’s impact in Cotemar
Thanks to the implementation, Cotemar has changed its operations permanently. The moment they started using an automation tool, they left the manual process behind and now have an automated process. The process as such changes as well as the testers’ activities, now instead of only having manual tests, they can also have hybrid.
By half of the year 2025, they had 40% automated of their entire case test universe. Therefore, of each test made, they save 40% of the time, now that it is not done manually by a tester.
The client is entirely satisfied with the tool and wants to implement it in other areas and activities. We are still renovating Tricentis Tosca licenses with Cotemar and we keep supporting them with doubts and comments to date.
